I have a close family member who struggles with depression and has been suicidal. I have so appreciated all of the people in her community who have helped me keep her alive and on the path to full recovery!
Mental illnesses can affect anyone and often does at some point in their lives. It’s a rampant problem and leaves people feeling very alone. We need to destigmatize talking about mental health issues and start bringing awareness to those who may need help.
September is National Suicide Awareness Month. There is a high chance that you or someone you know may be affected by suicide in some way. Please consider donating to this cause if you are able.
I have personally experienced thoughts of suicide to the point where I knew that I knew that night was my last night. I am lucky to have family close and supporting me to keep going. Days are still very hard and the thoughts are still strong but working together with others makes it a little easier each day.
There are 129 suicides every day in the United States, with a suicide occurring every 12 minutes—and suicide rates increase at night. Strength 2 Thrive is designed to help people struggling with suicidal thoughts to know they are not alone—they have value. You can help give them the Strength 2 Thrive to discover the hope tomorrow brings!
What is Strength 2 Thrive? It’s a walk-a-thon, concert, and gathering that we hope will bring people together to raise awareness about suicide and build a community of support.
Give a gift to support the mission of Strength 2 Thrive! Your donation will help to raise awareness about mental health issues and be donated to national and local suicide prevention charities.
More than 120 people die by suicide each day on average in the US as thousands more consider suicide as a better option. In many cases, it isn’t a selfish thing. It is agony. It is also why my grandfather’s life ended before I could meet him. Thank God, many find help!
Your support of the Strenth2Thrive walkathon will provide help for others who are now as desperate as ever under today’s challenges and pressures. Thank you for your help in my endeavor to raise $1,000 for this awesome program!
*Your gift is tax-deductible, and the Idaho Suicide Prevention Hotline will issue you a gift receipt following the event.
I am passionate about mental health because I personally live with a mental illness every day. It is a lonely and very frustrating road but I know that it can be managed. For me, exercise and medication has really helped. Every single one of us has a story to tell, every single one of us is going through something very sad and hard. Be kind and spread love!
My family as suffered with the loss of a couple people due to suicide and I think it’s important to raise awareness and to help others feel loved. It brings me joy to help the community and potentially save a life. It would be awesome to raise some money for the hotline since they make such a huge difference in so many peoples lives. I’m sure this will be a great experience and I’m excited to help out!
After my own attempt back in 1995, the death of my nephew earlier this year and the death of a friend from my church just recently, its become glaringly obvious that this is truly an issue in our world. Let’s do what we can to help. Please donate. I’m dedicating my walk this year to my nephew Kalvin Peace. He is deeply missed.
